utorrent

Featured Replies

why would my utorrent connection have died on it's arse.

It's been fine for months and then they provided a new "updated" version so i uninstalled and reinstalled the latest one and now my downloads are running at bout a tenth of the speed they were yesterday.

Any quick fixes?

Are there a set of "good" settings re ports/bandwidth etc?

i can't live with 10 kB/s (even less so when it was 100 kB/s yesterday!0

you got the download limit set to zero in the settings, Cliff?

static ip ? have you got a clash if dynamic ?

has your isp blocked it?

check the port its using, maybe your site doesnt allow the one your using

DHt should be enabled for public sites and disabled for private

several other settings too but it sometimes depends on the site your using

the files are coming in they are just super slow

static ip ? have you got a clash if dynamic ?

how would one check such things?

has your isp blocked it?

It could be this.

Was with O2 who sold out to Sky recently so could a new block#

speedtest.net still says 3MB download speed so it's not the whole connection

check the port its using, maybe your site doesnt allow the one your using

DHt should be enabled for public sites and disabled for private

several other settings too but it sometimes depends on the site your using

as with above how would one check such things

I did look at allocating fixed prot forwarding via the router but it didn't seem to make a difference.

downloads are generally hunted out from isohunt.com or a piratebay proxy both of which have been really reliable up until last night when things were "updated"

think i got it

utorrent seemed to be struggling to pick up seeds

both inbound files i had were hovering around 30 (despite yesterdays new Big Bang Theory having 55,000 to chose from)

looks like there was a setting limiting the number of connection per torrent and total connections

number of seeds now rising steadily

although speed not really picking up to match

to get the most out of p2p i would recommend applying a fixed ip then forwarding a port to allow the stream

it all here http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

Generally utorrent will give you a green light for about 2 weeks then it all catches up and goes poo

Isohunt is being tracked I cant use it on virgin try http://bit.ly/zHesPO

Thanks Binz

I've been using https://tpb.g2-web.com/ of late and i added a file i had downloading from there from isohunt as well and it gave me the same torrent so i guess it could just be the long arm of the law being felt

I'll investigate ips and port forwarding

it is tough to work through just dont give up I know someone (cough) who did this 2 years ago and often max's tinternet

holla if you struggle

yeah i may have links with someone who has used P2P for ages had a brief dalliance wit newzbins but hated paying for stuff (even if it was quicker)

they may, or may not, have not bought a DVD or watched much Live TV for a coupel of years and may or may not have had to upgrade cos a 500GB hard drive was full.

Allegedly ;)

looks like it may have been a peak time throttling

speeds now back up to 200+ kB/s

we shall see

I've lined up a couple of complete series to download overnight and see how it gets on - 7GB what are the chances ;)

My internet speed officially is 256kb/s. In reality, daytime I might hit in the 100 to 150 range on speedtest. Steam and utorrent tend to hover at 60 or less. Count yourself lucky.

Overnight I can get 300 to 400k on speedtest if I am.lucky.

Try 7gb on that....
