Ok, thanks.

How do you remove the damn thing? I tried but failed .... Are you supposed to remove the 2 bolts underneath?

There's three allen key bolts holding it to the intake manifold (the lower one is a bitch to get to), and then you need to disconnect the EGR pipe which are two hex bolts I think.

Are there any benefits in cleaning it?

Better mpg by all accounts, still waiting to get mine done, so please report back with any tips if you do yours, as I also have an asz.

Found a few photos from another thread showing the EGR removed, and a tool that allegedly makes it easy.

Out of interest, what do you do with the pipe that that is connected to the EGR that goes back to the pressure box?

There's two vacuum hoses from the egr. They just need blanking off (put a screw/golf tee in the end) if you are putting a delete kit on. If just cleaning the egr, you'd need re connect them..

I've never done anything under a bonnet before, but I'm a keen DIYer. So reading pretty much every post on this forum (the search tool is your friend) which related to the what I wanted to do. I managed to remove and delete my egr, remove and clean the inlet manifold, reset the gear linkage, and do the elephant hose mod on the same day.

And I would recommend removing and cleaning the inlet manifold too if you're going to the trouble of removing the egr anyway. Easier to remove and reassemble the egr/manifold as one piece aswell- saves messing about with that bottom bolt when it's in situ!

Prepare for loads of swearing and bruised knuckles though

Aye i do love taking things apart and finding how they work. I've heard the delete is a pain in the rectum though haha :D thanks though.

pulse, do you have any links to guides either here or elsewhere to the inlet manifold cleaning and resetting the gear linkage? Ive tried searching for the manifold before and didnt get very far...

Cheers, this looks good thanks!
