How does the stock divertervalve work (1.4 BiTSi)?

Featured Replies

As some off you know, I come from a long line off SAAB's which use the Bosch divertervalve.

The one on my skoda tho looks alot different and I'm trying to figure out how it's working...

Anyone have an idea?

I got the Forge Divertervalve here in my hand and I can see how it looks...

Does it just goes up and down in there or have I missed something else?

I couldnt work out for the life of me how the stock one worked when i had mine off...it clearly moved up and down but there were no vent or anything that i could see

Thank you, I'm apparently not the only one then... Maybe someone at Forge will see the thread and explain (they hopefully should know if they have designed it one xD!)

its vaccum actuated isnt it?

Yes and no, it's actuated through electrics (standard one) but the forge one is an vacuum-version. Still got electrics to convert from vacuum however

I was more thinking off the design in itself. A standard takes the air from the pressure-side and dumps it into non-pressure side... This one tho...

Are they actually worth upgrading?

For stock-use: no

For high-performance : not sure yet.

Noone has gone as far as I intend to.

Can we please keep it to answering the topic instead

From what i worked out the forge one i had dumped the pressure into the atmosphere but nobody that seen my standered one when it was off could work out qhat it done with the pressure as it was just a plug witha Push valve in the bottem as far as i could work out

Loaning this picture from ucaru over at vagoc!

Look into the hole where the valve should be sitting.

It's a hole there, but I can't see if it's a channel back into the turbo again or just vented freely.

Guess who's running outside to check...

Looks like a recirc into the turbo inlet to me - think the Volvo turbo uses the same method (I also had a 9000 turbo for a while, so know what you mean).

Okay, have figured it out. The valve opens, let's the air pass through the hole back to non-pressure side off the turbo.

Got a flange for K04-conversion for 2.0 TFSI-engines, but the boltholes are different for the valve.

Not a big deal really, just needs some work to be done to it first.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT : damn on that timing, haha!

Good that I've found someone who understands xD!

I assume you're not on about the diverter valve that balances the boost between supercharger and turbo (which comes into play between about 2400 and 3200rpm), but the recirc/"dump" valve (as judging my the pic)..

Well, yeah. I'm talking about the divertervalve for the turbo ;).

Thought so ;)
