new vcds cable

Featured Replies

I've just brought a new genuine cable from Nigel (NHN) and hopefully it will be with my by Fri. Any advice for a complete newbie? I am going to offer to help others once I have got to grips wwith it and will add myself to the map then.

Excellent.

The only advice I'd give is not to go and mess around with every module/setting you can without reference to the manual on the ross tech website.

Unlike a lot of computer software where you can experiment to get the hang of it and not break anything, with VCDS it's possible to properly bugger something up on your car!

Ok- now Im worried!

Don't worry!

It's just a case of using common sense when playing around with it.

Make notes of what you are changing......just in case you need to change it back in the future.

Don't blindly copy coding from other places. MYGTI for example carrys this warning a lot. Not all modules are the same between models, so the coding for a Golf (for example) may not be the same for an Octavia, even though they share many common components.
