2 Days with a 4 month old L&K and its back at the dealers

Featured Replies

On Saturday I bought a 4 month old 4x4 estate L and K. On Monday I noticed a pool of fluid under the car, called the dealer and Skoda Assist and on Tuesday lunchtime it was back at the dealers.

It transpires that a seal had gone between the Haldex unit and the gear box. Apparently this seal on the Superb does not have a part number, however the Octavia does. The dealer is checking with Skoda UK and have ordered the Octy part just in case this fits.

In all honesty the dealer have been really good and Skoda Assist have been great and I was back in a car by Monday evening (even though) it's a Vauxhall.

It would appear that this seal failure is rare. The Skoda Assist man had said he had never seen this before and the fact there isn't a part number would suggest this is a common problem.

Has any one else had this failure? What would you do in my position? I'm concerned that it could be a bit of a citrus fruit.

Hopefully this is a one -off and once rectified it will never happen again. If the dealer is so much in the dark about the seal then an e-mail to SUK will sort that out (I would hope). Having a 4x4 myself, and for many other owners on this forum we all hope that you get satisfaction soon.

Look on the bright side. You noticed the pool of fuild before the transmission seized up and started to munch on itself. Consider a lucky sign.
