Buying advice on vRS

Adhal

Recommended Posts

I'm going to look at a late 2005 vRS tommorow and I've got a helpful memeber who will be scanning the car with VCDS. Is there anything in particular to watch out for on VCDS?

Thanks Ad.

VCDS isn't where you need to be looking, the car, it's condition and the usual physical faults that are well discussed and well documented are where you need to look, those and the service history are a better indication for the most part than a VCDS scan.

Yes, but MAF/EGR problems are also well documented just wondering if I should do anything other than an auto-scan. I spent 3 hours buying my old vRS so rest assured all the usual checks will be done.

3hrs? I'd have told you to pee off after one on principal as no reasonable inspection should take anything like that long.

That really is too long. Whatever do you include in a three-hour inspection?! One thing I'd recommend you do is find a lowered kerb on your test drive and turn up it at 5-10mph on full lock. Feel how bad any knocking is, because the bushes on the lower front suspension arms are a common fail on the vRS; especially one that's been run mostly around town.
