This now means I have to buy 4 new tyres soon. I ain't rich so would prefer to look at an all year round trye, (I found the 225/40 R18 tyres beyond useless in snow) rather than summer and winter tyres.

My last car was a LR Discovery and I left my winter tyres on all year round. I know it is very controversial and not everyone agrees but if you can only afford one set then better to have winter on in summer than summer on in winter was my logic.

I used Vredesteins and ATR's on the Discovery and got over 35k miles out of a set of 4

Anyone care to recommend 16" all year rounds, or winters, also tyres that are good for high mileage (I do about 25k per annum), oh and last any recommended places to buy?

About the best all year tyre out there is the Goodyear Vector 4season. Number of yeti owners have been running them for a while now (225/50 R17) with good feedback, in terms of both grip and wear rates. My lad also had them on his previous Fabia and he had no complaints either.

The other option would be Verdestein Quatrac 3.

Camskill is another good on-line retailer but out of stock of the 94v rating. Could also try your Skoda dealer, can sometimes be a pleasent suprise on tyre pricing.

Again hope of help,

Those 914's are a summer tyre rather than a proper all season tyre, so will not perform well in real winter conditions.

A cheaper alternative to those above would be a Hankook (brand factory fitted by Skoda on the Fabia) and after that your probably looking at a Kumho, if you want tyres that work all year. Personally the Hankook would be the cheapest I'd go and to be fair they should be OK; currently have their full winter W310's for the Yeti and I would buy them again.

Thanks for help. 1st step is to get the shredded 18inch trye replaced with cheapest option this morning to keep me motoring, then confirm those steels you linked with fit the Skoda Estate, then buy 16" tyres and then sue Council for 1st tyre.
