New CAN Gateway to be fitted

Featured Replies

Just got a later CAN Gateway for a Bolero fitment soon. This Gateway is brand new so i,m expecting trouble when i change them over.

What procedure needs to be done to make the new one work correctly with my car with VCDS?

Obviously the new one isn,t precoded so will need coding.

What needs to be accessed in VCDS as i,m new to it?

Any help appreciated.Thanks.

You'll need to code the new gateway to your car and controllers.

If it a pretty new gateway, then go to. 19 - CAN Gateway and 'tick' the appropriate boxes in the controllers / instalation list and save.

It's that simple with the new gateways as there's not much more than this list.

Thanks KBP that seems straight forward. I've picked up a very cheap 1K0907530L Gateway local to me so now I'm waiting for Ross Tech cable to turn up. It's the first time i will be using this.

Is your CAN gateway behind your glovebox (if pre-07 plate, it will almost certainly be)?

If so, its an easy swap and a pretty easy code.

If not, there are threads on here and on one of the Golf forums (Mk V GTI, IIRC) about going in from the engine bay by removing the wiper arms. Sounds bad, but way easier than trying to get up behind the relays above the driver's footwell.

Remember to run a full scan first and save this to your computer so you can refer to it when coding the new one (this scan will give you an actual list of controllers installed so you can tick the right boxes on the new one).

Yes I'm lucky it's behind the glovebox. I've done it before but no luck so vcds will help this time.

Thanks for the tip on scanning.
