odd behavior followed by airbag light

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar. Driving home from work this evening I stopped off at Tesco (2012 cr170 with 7k on the clock). Got back in the car to drive home, started the engine and the tyre pressure monitor warning went off. So turned off the engine and got out and checked all tyres with a 12v pump. No issues- all tyres correctly inflated. So got back in the car and reset the tpm although I noted that it did not beep to acknowledge the reset. Went to start the engine- it then ran for about 2 secs and then died. Turned off the ignition completley and restarted the engine again and it did the same thing again. I then removed the key got out the car and locked and then unlocked and tried again- it did the same thing twice more before starting properly and running but also then put up the airbag warning light. I then drove home and the car drove fine. Turned the car on and off again a couple of times once home and the car started perfectly but I still have the airbag light up. I haven't had time to put the vcds on to see what it says and I'm off for a long day tomorrow. Any ideas anyone?

scan it as you have vcds

time spent scanning will give you more info than on here

Agree with a scan. Mine did this after i removed the airbag fuse. I am getting it scanned tomorrow so will update on results. (2009 octy CR)

I would have scanned it but I have not been home with the car since to be able to scan!! The car is booked in with Skoda to scan it tomorrow lunchtime- I just wondered if anyone has had similar?

Out of intrest how much is it for skoda to scan it?

on a 2012 car, nothing I would expect.

Most dealers have a flat rate for a diagnostic check, it's usually not far off an hours worth of labour so somewhere between £60 and £90.

Sounds like the battery might be faulty or not charging properly. Low voltage might cause the airbag circuit to not respond properly and once it's triggered it stays on.

Well I took it in today and they scanned it and it came up with over 15 faults registered- all of them communication based and seems to be based around can 19. Informed that it is not something that they have seen before, so have performed a reset and test and will see if it happens again. Also while I was there I got them to have a look at the lumbar support in the drivers seat as it appears inactive- they are going to have it back on tues to take it to pieces and investigate. They initially tried to give me a citygo as courtesy car and I politely declined- at 6ft 8in I don't fancy that for a couple of days of commuting over 70 miles a day!!
