Seatsport front mount intercooler

Featured Replies

Right quick question to anyone else who might have fitted their own front mounter.

I fitted mine a good few weeks back now but only just got it back on the road. Been noticing a slight light growly rubbing kind of noise. Brought it into the workshop and noticed that one of the pipes to the intercooler seems to be real close to the car its self and is rubbing on there. not had chance to take pictures, but did anyone else have this problem?

The only thing i can think is the fact its a proper tight fit and the clamp ive used to hold the pipe onto the intercooler is pushing into the bumper and obviously when thats been pushed on its pushed that into the clamp and the clamp and rubber pipe towards the car. Incase my question makes no frigging sense to anyone ill try grab a picture lol.

Thanks in advance.

Close to the car? What does that mean mate? I fitted mine 2 weeks ago and cut out the back of the bumper, the plastic surround you see when you remove the bumper, took a load out of the crash bar too!

Mine has been fine and I'm running 57mm pipework.

Also please excuse the hole in my grille..this is where they got in to steal my bumper :/

Mother ****ers! I'm surprised they didn't take your cooler too!

As for running close, mines pretty close too as I run 57mm pipework.

Did you fit it yourself? If you look behind the front bumper there is some like black plastic reinforcement - I cut some of that away for the pipework and it gives you alot more room :)

They did they took his smic the scum.

I have a SS FMIC and darkside hard pipework kit fitted, getting a vibrating noise at a low point in the rev range, tried fastening some rubber onto the pipework near the base of the driver's side headlamp but still vibrating. Also have a slight leak which i think is due to the clamps supplied with the kit not providing a tight enough seal since my remap. I'll be interested to hear other people's suggestions on this before taking my bumper off to have a proper look.

I have the same problem with dark side kit on a seat sport intercooler and I think there is a boost leak as my car boost to 2bar then drops and holds 1.5 bar

If it's catching on that picture when I turn it could be flexing the pipe and causing an air leak I think which could be causing the noise and the air leak. Mines coming off tomorrow so ill let you know amongst other things lol

Right ok so ive sorted the noise out!

Basically as somebody mentioned earlier, the pipe work near the headlight, get that felted if you havent already. and also take off the front bumper. and if you look at my picture i posted. well..make it look like this lol.8665646306_4f8e23b867.jpg

Basically, cut it some more if you havent already but be careful. I took my headlight out so i could get in easier with the air saw and then snap the edge off.

ive had similar problems first off i had a boost leak car sounded like it had a kid with a relay large balloon under the bonnet. took off all the pipework and cleaned it all up. this sorted the boost leak re-cable tied the top boost pipe to the underside of the headlight shelf thingy.

car ran like a dream for four days and now I've got a relay loud thumping / rattly noise when going over any type of bump, so swapped out the cable ties for more heavy duty ones and made sure they were tight and the noise is still there. any Ideas?
