octsvia 1.6tdi lift pump pressure?

Featured Replies

Hi.

Lift pump failed?

Was replace the fuel filter and decide to fill up the filter housing by lift pump pressure, when i turn the key on i hear the noise of the lift pump in the tank but when i look on the filter housing found there is very low pressure. turned the key 7-8 times and got only 100 gram of diesel from the tank.

I know the pressure from lift pump must be 0.3 bar but i have no clue how much is that or how strong the stream on outcome

Probably this is the reason why car loose the power and computer shows FUEL RAIL SYSTEM PRESSURE TO LOW?

Tank you

About 30s of continuous flow AT THE PUMP should give you about 1l with a pump voltage of 11.5.

If you want to measure the pressure directly, it should be 0.5 bar at idle IN THE ENGINE BAY. If you raise the rpm to 2500, the pressure shouldn't fall below 0.3 bar.

I don't have anything to measure a pressure! Can you tell me please the lift pump should make a stream flow or just leak? If it make low pressure why the engine not starving? was on motorway, the car runs fine in all regimes but luck of power

You have to remember that 100g of diesel will keep the car running at 60MPH for 5 or 6 minutes.

If you run the pump CONTINOUSLY you should see a flow but the rate will be much less than that measured at the pump.

there is no flow, it lookalike a leak!!!!! Can this low pressure( leak) affect the power??????????

If you have run the pump continuously and after 30s you still don't get flow, then you have a problem. First check the voltage and flow at the lift pump.

how can i run the pump continuously?

how can i run the pump continuously?

Apply 12V direct to the pump connector.

Ok. Clear now, thank you!

Actually intend to open the tank tomorrow to have a look the pump and what's inside the tank. Will try to check the pressure straight from the pump avoiding the fuel runways but feel that I need to put new or second hand lift pump, it should return the car to normal run....

Thank you for the posts, will update tomorrow(today)

There can be other causes. That's why it's important to do the test at the pump. The last thing you want to do is replace the lift pump only to find the problem is still there.

Low voltage at the pump will cause it to run slow. It's also possible that a fuel line has been pinched or is blocked. A bad relay can also cause problems.

At the pump, ground is brown and +ve is blue/red

Can I disconnect intake fuel tube just before the fuel filter and start the car to have look if the pressure grow up???? Skoda dealer tech confirm that to see if the pressure is good the engine needs to be crank for a while.... Also they advise to take the rail fuel sensor out to check if its not blocked by metal flakes, which are exist in every tank....Will do the sensor now but rest tomorrow and keep update, maybe it will help to someone in future. The silly posts how to remove the tire is to boring

All sort it

The fuel lines from the tank was connected in wrong way.

Much better than a new lift pump :)
