My mirrors have a mind of their own!

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

About a year ago, my Yeti developed a peculiar fault which only occurred twice, but if you switched the ignition off & on, (rebooting!!) the fault disappeared. Yesterday, it did it again, & now, once more all is well. How can the dealer find that? Anyone here had similar experiences? No warning lights on either. Here goes...

When you select "L" on the electric mirror adjuster, the passenger mirror responds just fine. But when switching to "R", the driver's side mirror doesn't move, but the passenger one moves again instead, & in the reverse sense! What's going on here then? & as I say, if you turn off the ignition for 10 seconds, it all resets back to normal. The heating & folding functions work on both mirrors (including folding them from the key fob with the 3 second press of the "lock" button)

Damn Multiplexed electrics! What's wrong with a switch, a wire & a (simple) gadget?!

I can see this developing into one of "those" dealer scenarios! :wall:

Have you got the mirrors selected to individual operation, on the Maxidot when this occurs?

Hmm, good point, cheers for the info. I'd completely missed this in the handbook, but I checked last night & they were set to both. So now it looks like the passenger mirror was just doing as it was told & the errant one is the driver's mirror as that didn't appear to be moving. Time will tell. Everything's fine today.
