Octavia Airon Problems - Understanding Measuring Blocks

Featured Replies

Now that the weather has finally decided to stop being arctic today I noticed that the aircon seems to do exactly nothing. Even when turned down to LO the air coming from the vents was still warm. As I got the car in December I haven't actually been able to test it yet. This is a mkII Octavia with climate control.

I have checked the system with VCDS and no faults are showing, I had a look at the various measuring blocks but I'm not sure what they are telling me. For the various blocks where there are specified and actual values given they do seem to match (although not always exactly).

I suspect that the compressor is kapput but before I go down the dealer all guns blazing I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to the output of the various measuring blocks.

Code for compressor shut off    0

Actual compressor current 0.820 amps

Specified compressor current 0.820 amps

Outside temp

Evap temp

Interior temp

If shut off code is zero, the actual and specified currents and temps all match to one another the compressor is goosed. Will need a new compressor and system flush with a new drier.

Bugger!!!

Thanks for that Ross, that is exactly what I'm seeing and confirms what I was thinking about the compressor.

Ross, you were of course correct. Now got to wait for the dealer to extract their digits on the warranty and book it back in to be fixed.

Done many of them over the years, on Leons and Golfs alike.

Well it's fixed now, nice shiny new compressor and it's positively glacial when set to low.
