vRS CR gone!

Featured Replies

Today I handed the dealer the keys of my beloved Candy White CR vRS hatch after 2 years 9 months ownership ( the longest I've kept a car) as I collected my new Race Blue 1.4 Elegance Octy 3. During it's time with me it has only visited the dealership once, last June for it's first variable service! It has been virtually faultless, once after being left for 2 weeks on a car park the heater fan stopped working for a few days but the day before it was booked into the dealers it started working again and has so ever since. The have been no DPF issues and the engine has hardly drank any oil. The fuel computer was fairly accurate being 1 to 2 mpg optimistic compared to brim to brim, except for winter it always returned more the 50 mpg per tankful. The car has survived without any dents, scratches or kerbed wheels and looked as good today as when I picked it up! Anybody wanting a lovely CR vRS should contact Hortons at Lincoln as the won't be many out there as good this one.

That can't be it, it's a 62 plate

It works for me......10 plate vrs in white.

U changed a Vrs to buy a 1.4? Is that not a huge step back!

Up for 13K so what was the part ex then, I presume you we're at the end of a 36 month PCP deal?

Trade In Clean £11,400 - £12,100

Trade In Average £10,850 - £11,550

Trade In Below £10,200 - £10,850

That's the CAP prices, so I would reckon they offered you £10,250 Knowing a dealer ! Probably help others on here if you could provide the figure although if you don't want to then it's understandable.

Not at all! Much better interior quality, it's quieter and plenty of toys. Together with comparable performance.

Strangely its not really. The 140 TSi has accelerative performance comparable to to the old 1.8 TSi 160, mixture of same torque output and lower kerb weight.

In fact i believe a 1.4 manual has the same 0 - 60 time as a MK2 CR vRS manual (8.4). However I was reading Performance VW at the weekend and they got a MK7 Golf with the same engine to 60 in just under 7.7 secs. It is therefore a bit quicker than its output suggests.....probably doesnt have the same high speed go that a CR 170 would have though....also a DSG equipped CR vRS has launch control (not something Skoda publicise but all 6 speed wet clutch DSG cars with 170ps+ have the feature) and its fairly common knowledge that its possible to knock over a second off of its official 0-60 (approx 7 secs).

Yep - 6.9 all day long on mine at GTI International couple of years back. Probably less than that on grippy tarmac and no gale force head wind.

Thats really quick isnt it, havent had the opportunity to try mine. Makes me wonder what a TSi DSG could do standard, got to be looking at late 5's?

It certainly is!

Mine is DSG though so the launch control helps ;)

To be fair 0-60 isn't where the CR excells and is 0-60 that important in the real world unless the driver is a traffic light jockey. The mkII CR has 30 ps and 100n/m more but the mkIII is 230kg lighter so I'm guessing it won't be that far behind but will loose out to the CR in the 40 to the wrong side of 70 stakes? Either way the new 1.4 looks very good on paper and is much quicker than it's outgoing sister so wonder what the new CR vRS will be like.....

Yeah my Blackline estates a DSG too....nice knowing a bit more off the mark go is there if needed, have to plan for it though....turn off ASR, into manual or S, foot on brake, revs up and let go of brake.....has to be a set of traffic lights really i guess :-D

Bet the price won't be though! especially for the 1st 12 months unless we get some decent offers. Saw a review on the Golf GTD 'tother day and they started the wrong side of £25k....ouch!

I had a bit of a look into it and the CR 170 had a mild power to weight and large lb/ft to weight ratio so its fair to say a 170 CR is probably still outrightly the quicker car in most circumstances just the CR isnt great off the mark

The new vRS is due to have the new 184ps (181hp) with 280lb/ft performance will be comparable with the 320d BMW, mid 7's 0-60 and mid 140mph top speed i should think so it'll be pretty quick particularly as it will be a bit lighter too......though this time around the TSi will be more notably quicker than the diesel, a 40hp deficit and having inherrited Audi's Valvelift system it will have the same torque output as the current CR vRS.

......ive just spec'd every concievable option onto a 2.0 TDi 150 Elegance estate and it came out at nearly 33k......33k for a Skoda! Completely nuts!

cheers for the post previous to this - very informative. The old oiler with an old duffer like me at the wheel isn't suited to 0-60 as we're both too short in the leg/rev range department!

Totally agree with your comments on the mkIII vRS TSI, though it will be interesting to see what the running costs will be compared to the also (though less so) improved CR burner. Might be better fuel consumption and lower emmisssions which could then attract new customers away from the CR....

looking at the above though I think you need to get out more mate ;)

Yeah my missus would say exactly the same, sad what happens to someone stuck in front of the TV watching the end of a rather predictable final episode of Broadchurch!

Just checked Hortons website and they have sold my old vRS already and they had it advertised for more than a similar aged and mileage DSG vRS!
