Tick bloody tock

Featured Replies

About a year ago we bought a clock for the bedroom, it's a cube about 6'' square with a large round face and a big button on top to illuminate the face - and some designer's name on the face.

SWMBO said if it ticked it had to go back - it didn't so it stayed. Last night it started ticking, at 2.00 a.m. I was looking for a "tick button" to no avail. There's the light button, the alarm and time setting wheels and nothing else.

Can anyone suggest anything - she's sleeping through it and it's driving me nuts!

just me the manufacturer built in feature known as "time to buy a new clock"

I can't stand a ticking clock either.

It's like an audible egg timer of your life being used up.

Digital clocks only in the bedroom for me if one has to be there.

Tbh, I use my phone as an alarm clock

At least there are some advantages to being a bit deaf. We had a clock that apparently ticked to loudly but I couldn't hear it at all!

Can't stand noises in the bedroom. If I'm asleep I'll sleep through just about anything (except the wee man crying, thanks evolution for that) but I can't get to sleep if there is a noise. I used to have a watch I had to leave in another room because of the tick, my Seiko auto is much quieter.

I took back a few supposedly silent analogue alarm clocks (some quite pricy) because they were ticking and got a digital. Digital alarm clock is the way to go. I got mine from Lidl and it has a surprisingly accurate weather forecast thingy built in for £7.
