Hi, as some of you know, i drive a Polo 130 and therefore share the majority of the running gear with the VRS.

Recently i thought i was being paranoid when reversing on to the drive and finding i couldnt take the car out of reverse without some force applied.

Driving home today, i started off and realised it wouldnt go into any gear without a fight. Eventually i got to a set of traffic lights and stopped, tried to engage 1st, and it just wouldnt go. After a few minutes with lots of revving and wiggling it finally went in with alot of grinding noises. It also started rolling forward with the clutch down and would go faster if i used the accelerator.

The clutch is a Southbend Stage 2 daily, with SMF. Its never slipped, and still didnt when in gear and trying it after.

Is this a bleed the slave cylinder job? Il be more than annoyed if its the clutch as its only running 340lbft (its rated to 400lbft) and has only been used for about 16k.

It sounds very much like a dragging clutch: first suspect is needing bled, and second is worn and needing replaced.

Cheers fot the reply. How about the master cylinder?

UPDATE: i tried to drive the car now and it wont engage any gear. It rolls forward when trying to put in first and makes the SMF rattle noise.
