How much to fit a DMF kit?

Featured Replies

Any ideas how much it would cost to replace and fit a new DMF kit on a 6 speed 2.0 tdi?

I've had a quote for £180 is that any good?

I bought the new Sashs kit from eBay for £372 delivered.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Just curious (as I might need mine replacing in a year or two), did you consider a Single Mass Flywheel at all?

If so, what were your reasons for sticking with the DMF?

I have a thread on here about converting to SMF but decided not to as there are not enough people who have done it on a 2.0 tdi. I didn't want to be the 1st and end up having issues i.e. excessive vibration and noise etc. I even considered an uprated clutch as I have a remap but didn't think the extra £300 could be justified if the DMF is likely to break again no doubt in the foreseeable future.

I had a recent remap and found a bit of slipping when the shoe is planted is there any cheaper way to uprate the car to take the extra torque without a complete clutch kit? I presume fitting a new standard clutch isnt good enough? Any thoughts?

With the cost and time of labour to open the box to replace the clutch u may as well get a kit with a dmf and uprated clutch coz there's a good chance ur dmf will need replacing in the near future anyway. Why pay labour twice plus all will be fresh and new!

On the sachs web site they have a few different packs and a mix and match of different clutch packs dmf's etc bit confusing on what to get the link is here

For the upgraded clutch kit I'm assuming? I recall you asking about just the clutch upgrade but I rambled on about the whole kit being changed to save on future labour costs, I mean if the dmf you have is still good then why not get a price for an upgraded clutch only, that may put the total cost into perspective!

Thats what im wondering can I cheaply improve the car to take the extra torque or does It need to b a full kit?

Of course you can just change the clutch if that's all you think is wrong but you should make sure the dmf is still in good working order, i.e. checked by a good mechanic for no noise, vibration or play as just changing the clutch will be false economy if the dmf breaks 6 months, a year even 2yrs down the line where you'll need a complete kit this time as the broken dmf has chewed up the upgraded clutch you recently put in.
