re coding my key

Featured Replies

My key has stopped working and the central locking will not work (I have tried a few ways of resetting the key) so have bought VCDS to rectify the problem, so how do I do it once the VCDS arrives??

And I only had one key with the car, so will be getting another key soon.

many thanks

karl

You can scan the vehicle with VCDS to see if there are any faults, but I'm not sure you can reprogramme keys with it.

Have a look in the Ross Tech website.

They key may be just 'out of sync' (assuming the fob battery is still good) and need resetting.

Do you have a spare key? Have you tried that?

Dies the central locking work with the key in the keyhole?

I have put a new battery in the fob, and the central locking does work with the key in the lock, and when I bought the car I had two keys with it but I moved house and lost the spare key.

I have heard about the key needing re synching, but when it comes to electrics i'm nooooo good at all, give me a turbo manifold and a socket set any day lol
