Cubra bushes and vibrations on low revs

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Just did change cupra bushes to 1.4TDI Fabia I and it seems it cant be driven under 2000rpm anymore as engine vibrations come through now. Could this be because of stiffer Cupra bushes or did I manage to do something wrong? I did take the cast al consoles out and fitted the bushes in press but it's pretty straight forward thing so I cant figure out if I miss something.

Despite of that, tested it on motorway 87mph and it goes like railroad tracks. Didn't notice any more tyre noise. Perhaps that 3 cyl tdi is not good with the cupra bushes with lower rpm.

Thanks

-C

I think that this was always getting posted as a possible issue with TDI engines back in the early days of doing this mod to non Cupra cars. Petrol engine cars seem to escape this problem.

The actual details of why this could be have not, as far as I know, been posted on these forums.

It seems to be confined to the 1.4 tdi engines, something about them having 3 cylinders. Reports of solid/PU bushes on 1.9s seem to be good!

Found few topics regarding this so should have searched first. Anyway, bit confusing as some have had same experience as me and some didn't notice any more vibrations. I certainly did notice and just ordered original console bushes as it's not an option for me to keep revs over 2200 or so. For sure it's not even safe for the car those vibs under load it would shake itself apart.

If you're thinking to get cupra bushes to 3cyl diesel. Don't waste your time. You've been warned.

Powerflex would have been the better option

Update: Just installed updated original "X" type bushes part n:o 1K0407183E and car is smooth again. No vibes whatsoever.
