4X4 anti roll bar balancing diameter front and back

Featured Replies

Just read again through previous post about arb's on the 4x4 and still a little confused.

It looks that for a VRS the front arb is recommended to be thinner than the rear with 23mm front 25mm rear or likewise possibly 25mm front 28mm rear.

With the 4X4 the arb's that fit are from the Golf 4 R32.

On the R32 all the ARB kits sell with the fronts thicker than the rear eg H&R 25mm front 21mm rear

So do I want to have thicker front or rear for my 4X4 ?

If I want ratios like the VRS can anyone provide source for R32 Rear 28mm ?

Thank you

M

Bigger arb on the front small on rear

Nothing like a fwd car

Yep. Doesn't even begin to compare. Especially if you've uprated the Haldex and actually have some proper drive to the rear.

You should get ARBs' for the 4x4's as a matched pair.

The H&R R32 kits are perfect - its what I use

Basically, any info relating to vRS (eg 2WD) ARB's, spring's or shocker absorder's related isn't relevant to the 4x4 owner

Just ordered the H&R 25mm front and 21mm rear ARB kit to find that it will be 10 days. I can get the Eibach 26mm front /24mm rear kit E40-85-001-01-11 straight away. Apparently this is hollow, not sure about the H&R. Only review of the Eibach is on the TTForum

H&R are usually the more popular option and very well balanced but I personally prefer the handling from the Eibach kit as you get a little more oversteer.

Found some references on here to the Eibach setup in 2010 but not conclusive.

Had booked the car in for work to be done next week so would appreciate any opinion on the 26/24 setup.

Thanks

Oh yes and I won a new haldex blue on ebay but surprise surprise the seller had allegedly already sold it ( for more than my winning bid obviously).

I've experrienced the Eibach (not on my car though) ...

wait for the H&R, well worth the wait
