flashing glow plug light

Featured Replies

Had the same flashing glowplug ,breaklights working fine, and i discovered i do not have a dpf on my car (2007 115hp....mileage 25000mls) checked all underbonnet connectors i could find and all were well ,i double checked the ones behind the headlights because i had removed both headlamps and front bumper 3 weeks ago to remedy a problem with trhe headlamp seals .

I had resigned myself to book it into dealership for diagnostics check when i decided to check the brake light switch anyway ,i took it out yesterday the plunger was working fine as was the connector block .just for the heck of it i took the switch apart and discovered that there are two very small copper strip spring electrical connectors (kind of like an old style points) with two tiny rivets on one end and the contact on the other ,on first inspection the two looked fine but then i noticed atiny gap on the bottom contact ,on closer inspection the bottom strip had a hairline crack on it and thus would never close fully ,obviously the top connector sends the signal to the brakelights and the bottom broken one to the ecu.....anyway got anew switch from skoda (which is completely different looking i mentioned that to the skoda guy and he rechecked my old part number and verified that they do not make that number anymore)

fitted new part and light is now not flashing at me
