possible Coil pack problem on mk1 octavia VRS

Featured Replies

Hey guys and girls i have a slight problem i brought a mk1 skoda Octavia vrs which has been remapped bye skoda before i brought it . a few months ago a coil pack went so i changed it. Then a different one went so i again changed that also. so fearing the worst i checked online to see if anybody has had a similar problem and found out that the earlier coil packs were no good and found part numbers of bad ones and part numbers of good ones. So i checked them all, even the two new ones. three were fine with good part numbers as in clean and no signs of wear but the 4th one was rusty and in very bad condition with a bad part number so i had that changed also. so im all happy until today when im driving along and the same symptom happened as the others, where i change into 2nd gear and no power then release the accelerator and back on again and then comes the power... any suggestions would be very appreciated and thanks for reading ;))

Do your brake lights work ???

Have you taken your car to a Skoda dealer to check if the coil packs are eligible for free replacement under the terms of the Ignition Coil Campaign No: 28 F7 issued 28 March 2011? Read the thread below and, if you know what versions of coil pack are currently fitted to your car, you might find that some or all will be replaced free of charge under that campaign.

i did hear about it yes but i have changed the 3 bad ones already so would be pointless other than this problem the car runs perfectly ... just stumped only happens once a day and really don't want it to do any long term damage XD

The reason I ask about brake lights is that it is a dual switch. When it fails it can cause power loss as it thinks your braking when your not.

You could do with fault code scan really.

well i could drop it into my local mechanic he has a good fault scanner any other ideas as to the problem?
