Loudness on boost?

Featured Replies

Car suddenly has started been noisey when on boost. It started the other day when i replaced the Y breather pipe, i noticed the plastic tube was split so taped it up till my replacement arrived. After replacing both tube and the breather its still noisey on boost. Sounds like a drill and sounds like a boost leak but im not loosing any boost, still goes hard :/

Might be worth mentioning my exhaust is blowing somewhere near the front of the car not had chance to get it looked at

In which part?

The noise is the turbo whistling and not exhaust noise

My Elegence 1.8T sounds the same, ive started driving with the windw down now so i can hear it more. I also took the engine cover of yesterday to notice the prev owner had put masking tape around the split Y breather pipe (Looks like a proper job).

Gonna keep an eye on this thread now though.

Might only be a very small split?

Ive been threw all the boost hoses, vac pipes and cleaned the throttle body today while the pipe was off. No splits. I can only assume the whistling is coming via the blowy exhaust

This is the exhaust just for future reference to anyone else. Its broken at the flexi part just after the turbo. I wrapped it in exhaust wrap to try it. Was bang on until i gave it full throttle and the wrap blew to bits lol
