I bought my blackline with the free 3 year service deal. Car now at 10K and due first service. Called dealer and told doesn't need one until service light comes on. Paperwork with service deal says 10K is oil change only. Is this the "service"?

Your dealer is wrong. Skoda finance will get funny if you don't have it serviced on the fixed service plan as that's what they've agreed to pay for. Can't remember who it was but someone else has gone down this path before you and waited for the service light after his dealer c0cked up and SF were initially refusing to pay for the service as he'd gone over the milage. I'd take the paperwork you got from Skoda finance with you showing your on fixed 10k/12 months, stick it under the service mangers nose and ask him what his department are playing at!

The standard from the factory is long life servicing ie 18K-20K miles. The dealer as part of the free servicing should have set it to 10K servicing at the PDI. Mine is going in now but I set mine to 10K when I got the car in the maxidot menu as the dealer forgot to do it.

I would insist that they do it.

Now I am confused!!! Service book sticker says variable service but I have a fixed service plan!! I think this has been discussed previously but I can't remember. The fixed plan letter states at 10K oil change only. Confused!

When I bought mine (many moons ago) I had the same **** up. Dealer forgot to put car on annual servicing. In the end I had the variable service done for free so that was one service in 3yr not 3.

If you want the the 3x annuals I'd stick to your guns.

Ok this might help. I've posted it before but hope this clears up the confusion for you. Basically you decide with the dealer (if he's doing his job correctly) when you buy it based on the style of driving you do if it'll be on variable or fixed sevicing- it's in the back of the Octy II brochure page 25 IIRC under servicing. I'm doing less than 10k a year so I am on fixed to match the free servicing from Skoda finance (but ALL the skoda service deals are based on 10k/12 months fixed whichever comes first irrespective of how many miles you do, otherwise some on variable could do up to 60,000 miles and still be covered). You're slightly different because you're doing more than 10k a year by the looks of things, but ultimately if the paperwork from SF says they'll give you 3 free services at 10k or 12 month intervals which ever comes sooner that's what you need to go for. If it helps all the Blacklines come on variable service from the factory, the dealer (or you) can change this to fixed via the maxidot BUT this is only so the car knows when to tell you to get it serviced and stick it's little spanner light on, it's nothing to do with the actual service plan you've got from Skoda finance if you get my drift. Who said Skoda was simply clever! :rofl:
