Problem with My brothers Fabia

Featured Replies

My brother picked up his X reg Fabia 1.4 yesterday and today took it to a garage to get an alarm fitted. He has just noticed the heater fan is not working neither is the air con button, the fuse for the fan is ok, anyone got any ideas what the problem is.

Has the fan packed up on all speeds?

yes

He is worried because the garage which sold him the car might not fix it because it could be the faults of the garage which fitted the alarm, and the bloke who fixed the alarm is going on holiday in the morning. So he is in an foul mood.

I cant see the alarm being connected to the heater fan.

The Fabia blower motors have been known to pack up as the pollen filter is post fan so dirt, debris and leaves etc get dragged through it.

you need to pop the glovebox out and test for a supply at the motor.

He as checked the fuses in the car, what about the other fuses engine compartment ( top of battery). What do you mean get out the glovebox?????,thanks for your help.

The recircerling button next to the air con button works when pressed.

The blower motor is behind the glovebox, you need to pop it out (about six T25 Torx screws) and you can check to see if there is a live feed at the motor.

hi bradfordfabia brother here.so is it simply that its blocked ? can't believe this has happened after only 2 days.

No, im saying crud gets in there and can cause a fault on the motor.

been to the dealer this morning he's checked the fuses and hooked it up to a computer but he can't find the fault.

booked in for wednesday morning for a better look

i'll report back then.

anyone else had the same problem

Hope they get it sorted for ya, bit of a pain that ;)

:D

just been to the garage to get my car fixed.and it was the bloke who put the car alarm in fault.

behind the fuses box by the drivers door are larger square fuses,he took out the fan heater blower fuse out for some reason and put it else where !!!

i told the bloke at the garage that it was working after the alarm was fitted but of course there was no chance it would work. felt a bit of a wally !!

i can finally enjoy the car properly.

thanks for the help
