It's Too Quiet whats happening Jason?

Featured Replies

The transplant surgery spokesman hasn't been on lately and the silence is deafening ...

How's it going Jason?

What's happening?

We are starting to get worried

I think he has some body work being done on the 29th, maybe a roof job again?

I don't get it.

What's going with Jason's car?? I have no clue myself so someone entertain me please.

It's having a heart transplant at the moment

Jason is replacing the standard PD100 engine from his furby with a PD130 from the Fabia vRS along with new instuments etc. He has hit a few snags regarding wiring and the gearbox linkages so far, the comment by Richard I think has something to do with some bodywork repairs the car needs to be back on the road in time for.

Sorry, but i really dont understand this... Why didnt he just buy a vRS in the first place?

he wanted a unique car!

been asked lots of times, only answer being he doesn't want one!

fair enough... but wont it be just the same as a vRS when he's finished with it?

He needs to get with this guy. Fabia RS 1.8T

no don't be silly, lower spec and more expensive to insure. imho that is

Been offline since yesterday lunchtime as went to mate's mum's place for a wedding reception and got thoroughly drunk! :dtp: Just want to sleep now :o

But how's the car doing ?

But how's the car doing ?

Waiting on a couple of bits, should be back up to speed soon, but nothing could be done on it this weekend anyway. Gear linkages are coming Tuesday, also got donor car's airbox & pipework, including MAF, as its a bigger bore on the new engine. Also got new bearings coming Wednesday, along with new track rod ends required, and the flywheel bolts, oh, and the exhaust manifold gasket to head too

Doing this by the book, and if that means getting loads of new replacement parts to be sure, then so be it.

Only thing thats slightly niggling me now is how the speed sensor works.... I'm sort of hoping that my existing speed sensor wiring will do the same job in the hub, as it did in the gearbox? Given I'm using the ECU & dashpod from the same car too. :)

Is that part of the wiring loom still available.....might pay to put it in while the dash is still out as it may work but will it be the same calibration it may read way above or below your actual speed :(

Dash isn't coming out - unless you mean the instrument panel.

Hoping someone Techie-fied will be able to tell me how the speed sensor issue can be gotten around.... I'm pretty much asuming that this wire in the vRS goes to the same terminus in the car, as my current speed sensor wire does.... SO, in my ideal theoretical world, making the wire simply "terminus" somewhere different won't affect the outcome, as I'll be using vRS instruments/ECU

Jason, why did you decide on a transplant? For a vRS engine on top of that? All you would have needed was a remap and you would have gotten more power than a standard vRS. Doesn't it cost a sh*tload to make all these changes?

I wish you luck, but if I were to have a transplant, I'd find a way to fit a nice ultra-powerful v6 into the bay, since I'm goin' thru the trouble, better make sure the change is significant.

A common thought.

At the end of the day it's his car and he can do what he wants with it , but I think he'd have been better off with a VRS as well.

I went for the TDI option as my wiring loom shouldn't have to be changed.. much. :o I've had a remapped TDI for a while now, and I guess I just wanted to take it to the next level. Cost isn't something I'm worried about at the moment. Yes, it is a lot of money, but it STILL is working out cheaper than me buying a standard vRS Fabia... at the moment. And what will I have at the end of it? A unique car hopefully pushing way over 200bhp... or (and no offence) a bog standard Fabia vRS.... THIS is the dream I'm chasing. I know the vRS was the "wise" choice for me, something to re-sell etc, but I want to do this to have a totally unique car. 'nuff said. ;)

what have you done to the engine then J or is it a big secret?

If you can increase the bore and stroke of the new vRS engine while it's 'new', THEN you're talkin' unique ;)

Jason has a 2.0 vRS

What? The new engine? Just bolted on a mother of a hybrid turbo, thats all. :) Not a secret really.

Mil - I was tempted... But I didn't wanna start messing with engine internals like that. ;)
