1.9tdi 2004 mk2 servicing?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been covered before, but...

I have a 1.9tdi mk2, I bought the car just before xmas with 67k on the clock, it has been serviced annually up to my purchase and I have just clocked another 10k, mainly motorway miles, the service indicator is alerting for a service, I usually use a car garage near my work who have just suggested an oil & filter change now & then a full service at the next 10k interval.

Does this sound ok? Its a brilliant car for the age and I want to keep it that way!!

Myself I have always changed the oil / oil filter / fuel filter every 10K (when on a fixed service interval) and I check the air filter and change if its looking dirty.

As the filters are all cheap to acquire from ebay or any parts shop I think its worth changing the three together every 10K, look at it as preventive maintenance!

My newest Octavia is on a variable service interval (long life oil etc) and it works out 20K intervals or so however I still feel tempted to do it every 10K anyway? I do use my car as a taxi so it gets a lot of stop start low millage journeys so I feel it should be done sooner? (the other three octavia's we have are done every ten thousand on fixed services, they aren't and haven't been taxi's).

Hope this helps as today is the first time i've posted but I have used threads on here to help me diagnose problems I've encountered over the last few years and its always been helpful, it'll be nice to start helping back even with the little things!!
