TMC Tuning Box Help Bristol

Featured Replies

Anyone fancy trading their skills in fitting a TMC box for me in Bristol area. I know they're meant to be easy to fit but I don't trust myself.

In return I can offer my photography skills if anyone wants a great shot of their car?

Anyone?

Here's my photo portfolio - no cars but I'll do a good job, promise.

I can fit them in 5 mins ;) but i'm in cumbria! maybe at a meet? you going to "how fast" ? of the may midlands meet next weekend?

They are not that hard to fit. Biggest issue I had was working out how the connectors unclipped. Give it a go!

The TMC box is going to a good home :)

Some very, very nice photography there, lots of celebrity snaps, I'm guessing you did all these?

Here you go a step by step video guide plus if you look on the forum there's another step by step guide. You've reminded me I must get round to selling mine.

Here's the link for the guide very useful. I found the boost pressure sensor to be the most fiddly of all.

The hardest one is the turbo boost one thats down the right hand side of the engine, its just your screw driver flicking technique you need haha

Thanks for all the help and guide links chaps. You are right I'll have a go at it myself. Thanks for the great price Stu, I'll report back how I get on.

Fitted the box last night. As mentioned above the most tricky part is disconnecting the boost pressure sensor but now I've done it once I'm sure I could do it again in under 10 minutes.

Went for a quick spin on level seven, I wasn't expecting to be able to notice the difference as much as I could. It feels as if it is more responsive when you put your foot down. as if it has a sense of urgency to accelerate if that makes sense.

Annoyingly I did manage to snap the locking clip on the factory male connector when disconnecting the boost pressure sensor, clearly my screwdriver flicking technique was too strong... It stays connected fine but obviously isn't locked in, I think I'm going to gaffa them together to make sure they don't slip apart whilst I'm bouncing around on the road.

Could I suggest a cable tie is more reliable than Gaffer tape.

Whatever you do decide to keep the plug secure, makes sure it is fixed tight as the supercharger belt runs just underneath and you wouldn't want a cable tie dropping in now would you ;)

Yes I noticed the belt underneath, didn't know it was the supercharger. Having looked at the connectors again today I'm 99% sure they won't disconnect on their own, so I have not gaffa taped or used a cable tie. The connection in pretty tight and takes a little tug to get them to unclip, can't imagine they'll experience anything like that bouncing around on roads. Gravity is also on my side as they are sitting and connected vertically into each other, which helps. Saying that if car goes into limp mode I know where I'll be looking first.

you will know if it comes loose, you will get lights and limp mode ;)

Glad to hear you got it connected alright mate.

Picking up my new car tomorrow :-)
