Do the front doors leak the same as the rears?

Featured Replies

Just drove to work in very heavy rain and decided to check my footwells (as you do with a Fabia lol) and saw this little stream coming in from the front passenger door

is this just as common as the rear doors?? i'm asking because when I had the rear door leak a few months back and looked online for help, almost all of the fixes were for the rear doors and the fronts were hardly ever mentioned

so do I need the seal around the carrier like I did on the rear??

I have cleared the drainage holes regularly so nothing is blocking the water from coming out

Yes, they're exactly the same as the rears.

They do mate, also look out around the speaker area and the Bowden cables from the carrier to the inner door release handle as the water tends to track down it

I did notice some water stains near the speaker on the door card when I got the car, it works fine but I will check that out

I never actually stopped my fronts leaking.. reduced the amount of water, yes.. but never stopped... One of the things I'm most enjoying about the Fabia's replacement is it's apparent water tightness..

I found that the fronts would leak torrents from after market speaker adapters, and indeed from around the lip of after market speakers..

The carriers also leak like the rears... plus, once I bunged the drain holes and filled the door with a hose...

The three little screw holes / wall plug style clips at the bottom can rupture from over tightening allowing water through them. Cheap from the dealer.

Make sure all your clips around the edge are the newer style with the bigger washers..

I did all of this and got the car to a point where it wouldn't leak on the level, or with drivers door to kerb.. but if parked with passenger door to kerb would leak.
