Air conditioning

Featured Replies

Apologies for cross-posting, but I really could do with some help with the AC on SWMBOs car.

Details are here in the VCDS section.

Thanks

Martin

The AC pressure is way low. If it was last regassed more than about 2 years ago, take it to Kwik-Fit. You'll either get an a/c diagnostic or the system refilled for about £50.

Thanks Ken. Yes, I thought it was low too but would you agree that it appears that the compressor is doing what it can with the existing gas? I'm just taking semi-educated guesses based on what VCDS is telling me.

I've no way of knowing when it was last gassed up, but it was more than 18 months ago because that's how long we've had it.

If the gas is lower than a certain threshold, it will kick up a fault code and as such the compressor won't even kick in. As the same is on my Comfort right now; I press the AC button with a return of no lower revs, no sound from the compressor and the cooling fan doesn't even kick in, The computer stops it all.

Have it reg-gassed but by a trusted garage you may know... Reviews kick up worrying opinioins on the Kwik-fit service, if you ask a local garage nicely they may do it for £30ish (I've been quoted that for mine). Plus you'll get a much more experienced service from someone who really knows what they're talking about.
