Rear number plate mounting

Featured Replies

Chaps,

I've had an issue with my rear number plate since I've had my Octy. Basically everytime I wash her I end up with drip lines down the hatch an over the bumper on my nice clean car where water that has been held between the plate and the hatch has eventually drained away after I've finished cleaning her. I've come up with what could be a solution but wondered if anyone has tried this before and had problems as a result. The plate is held on with a couple of screws that go into a plastic insert in the hatch lid with the usual yellow plastic covers that go over the screws. I've simply added another plastic cover (with the flip over top removed) between the plate and the hatch lid to act as a spacer that's set the plate 4mm away from the car so the water will drain away more easily and quickly when I wash her.

Has anyone tried this and had problems as a result, e.g. the plate falling off.

Cheers

Opening and shutting the bootlid tends to stop the runs from behind my number plate.

Then you've got the wing mirrors, and the rubbing strips along each door and around the headlights - the list is endless.

Easy solution is remove number plate for cleaning. Just obviously dont forget to remount them befor going a drive.
