Replaced condenser, now headlights dont line up correctly

Featured Replies

Long story short, replaced condenser as it had damage and was leaking. Removed the crash bar, radiator shroud etc and the plates that the headlights sit and lock into place on. Now putting it all back together the headlights sit high into the wings with a cm gap between the bumper.

The pain is, adjusting the plates then having to refit the bumper again to see how the fitament is. Does anyone have any experience of doing this with some tips?

I had this exact same issue, so much so I kicked off at the garage and got a full refund on the work done (new condenser, dryer and labour). They also ended up scratching my bonnet lip down to them closing it with something left in the engine bay and also left my coolant cap off! They blamed me for leaving that cap off too initially. Clowns, but that is another story.

So, I think it's one of those jobs that needs lots of patience. It's a fair bit of work. I guess you did this yourself?

I went to a Skoda dealer for advice on how to rectify this and they said when they do this job they mark all the holes where the nuts are to ensure it goes back as it came out. Not much help after the job is done obv :/

Since the holes are enlongated you can adjust everything which makes it hard to put it back correctly unless you spend time fiddling about.

In the end I had another garage adjust my offside light tray and I've lived with the bonnet being a mm or so out.

Yes, did all the work myself. I was using elsawin as a guide and it did'nt mention about marking positions of headlights etc. Guess it's something you learn from doing the job more than once.

I spoke to Skoda, but they werent much help as they had a quick look as they were "busy"

Will just have to persevere with the job. Thanks for your reply.
