Boot light not working!

Featured Replies

Hi guys! I've changed my interior lights to LEDs on my VRS instead of the traditional bulb for a more white look in the car at night, they look great! I then went to change the boot light to an LED and noticed the bulb wasn't working so I thought that's alright cos I'm puttin an Led in there anyway, but after changing it over my new Led doesn't work either?! And I also tryed another standard bulb in there on the off chance and that's not working? Anyone have an idea what this could be? Anything to do with the interior LEDs? Haven't got a clue......

Please help!!!

It is controlled by the lock mechanism microswitch in the actual boot lid. Assuming the connectors to the bulb look good (ideally check with multimeter) open the boot up, go at the mechanism with wd40 as your first hope.

Cheers! Will def give that a go. When the boot is open it still shows up on the dash telling me it's open so could it still be the case with the microswitch??

door lights are the same as boot so you could unplug the door light and plug it in boot to check they are all getting power

WD40 worked for me. Check for whitening due to leaking rear wash wipe making it corrosive. It sorted mine out :)

Did u apply wd40 to the microswitch? It lets me know on the dash that the boots open so it might not be that? I couldn't really see any leakage problem really apart from a bit of condensation. :(

what leds did you get thinking of doing this to mine in the boot. thanks.

Just a pair from ebay 2 quid I think they were, they look mint at night inside, it's just the boot I'm having this issue with. Will have to wait for a voltmeter which I'm guna get but all seems strange :/
