Hi guys.This question is on behalf of my girlfriends mother who has a fabia 1.2 classic which is 2 years old and has done 12000 miles.The question is why should she have to pay the same amount of money for her service than someone who has done a lot more miles.She has been quoted

Its a 2 year service so even if she had done 10 miles they still change the oil and replace any servicable extras. Doesn't make it any less painfull :(

Remembering also that cars that dont get driven sufficiently (read: short distance, never warming up, never revved hard) tend to require MORE rather than less maintenance per mile.

Things like catalytic convertor will die a LOT quicker, more wear & tear on the engine due to never warming up, so changing the oil is even more important.

It should be a 10k service/2year service. Dunno if that is a more involved service but I'm guessing it's the usual stuff like oil, filter(s), check the thing all-over.

Hard to be sure what the mix of driving is your gf's mother is going for, but the Metro 1.4 my Mo-in-law has definitely had most of it's trouble due to the very, very short <5 mile journeys.
