Octavia MK1 door lock. The 104th thread on this.

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Another thread on this.

It is 2000 1.6slx mk1 Octavia sedan.

-The intro:

This car has central locking, and is european version (i.e. "LHD")

Our model doesn't have remote door locks, but it does slide windows when you hold key in barrel a bit more.

-The problem:

Rear passengers' door lock mechanism is somehow stuffed. It is not half-bugged, it is completely down.

It doesn't lock, but so it doesn't unlock. I've already removed door card/trim and found the mechanism, which had connector on it... with 6 wires.

-The troubleshooting

I've flown through the mk1s workshop manual of electrical system, but couldn't find anything of door locks.

I've read a lot that stuff like those cost ~100-150€ new or like 50-80€ 2nd hand.

So i want to make sure first, wether the motor is stuffed, or there might be bad pin contact, or broken cables.

The motor doesn't even try to react on locking/unlocking whole car (whereas, as stated above, windows move everywhere).

I would try to screw (yup, mechanism is screwed onto doors) it out and test the motor on the table, to see wether it is fully dead or just bad connection.

But those 6 pins are getting me crazy. 1 thing i've already noticed is that it carries data of opened/closed doors. (When i've unplugged connector, the cabin light went off.)

So anyone has pinout on passangers' locking mechanism, or has any other idea to share beside throwing the mechanism out?

(I'll leave car overnight outside today. Still can lock rear pass. doors manually, so that won't be a problem.)
