wheel balancing!does anyone else have a problem?

Featured Replies

Hi

just had a new front 205/50x17 tyre fitted to my std.17" alloy on my vrs octy.

The other front I had replaced with the spare wheel & tyre..Only the new fitted tyre was balanced as the unused spare would be balanced from the factory & would be OK..This was done at my dealer ..I have had problems before at tyre fit places with them not balancing the wheels properly, not on the Skoda as this is my first tyre change but on other cars I have had..But I have still had to go back to have them re-balanced...They were both out of balance!!! The new unused spare rim being worse!! The fitter added an extra weight to both wheels & it does now seem OK.The fitter was unable to say why the one he had balanced was now not balanced! this happens every time I have new front tyres fitted...I did once have a rover 220 which I never managed to get the wheels properly balanced, but maybe that was another issue with that car..;-)

I would be interested to know if this problem is common or is it just bad luck for me......sorry if this has at some time already been discussed...

this happens to me all the time too.... my advice is this, and I've found it works.. If you know your alloys are in perfect condition (not curbed or bent) DONT get the new tyres balanced! I tried this and it takes away the problems you describe! (these w rated tyres are very high spec, if the wheel is straight there will be no problem)
