Advice on buying a nearly new VRS please

Featured Replies

As it appears impossible to get test drives in my new car short list I am considering a late second hand motor

So top of my list for second hand is an Octy VRS, so—

Am looking for some advice on purchasing a nearly new Petrol DSG VRS, prefer estate but currently have a Hatch so would consider another.

There seem to be very few for sale and the 2 I have found at dealers appear overly expensive – 2012 with 6k at £17.5K. Put the reg into WBAC.com and they offered £12.5K??

Would appreciate some advice on what I should expect to pay for a good one under 10k and 12-18 months old. Ideally with parking sensors as I currently have them and have got to rely on them. Also what options I should really look for and things I should look out for.

Also if anyone can point me a good ones for sale would be appreciated

I think WBAC have more than enough cars and so they're putting off sellers by quoting silly prices.

Insurance company offered me £14,000 for a 10 plate, vRS CR Estate with 36K after it was stolen (it has since been recovered) without any negotiation. Seemed high to me.

Put in an offer on the car you want at the price you want to pay and see what they say. Worse case they'll say no.

I nearly bought a 12 plate CR DSG hatch with 8k miles, light assistant, BT, rear sensors and MDI for 17.1k just after xmas but the dealers f'd up the finance proposal and ended up buying new from my usual dealer.

for a 12 plate petrol, 15/16k would probably be my limit for a well spec'd low mileage ex demo.

I bought a TSI VRS at xmas from a main dealer in white no options 2012 61 plate for 14k if that helps, 8k on the clock.

If you dont like diesels fair enough but I can vouch for the CR 170 being a very good car. Not quite TSi 200 quick outright but still no slouch certainly at normal road speeds, tax and insurnace cheaper and economy wise the petrol cannot touch it; now averages 46-48mpg after a quickish mixed 110 mile run and its improving (only 4k on clock). Also fair to say the diesels residual value is much better and they are more common so a nice spec late car will be easier to souce.
