CEX - anyone bought and sold with them?

Featured Replies

Have 3 mobiles to sell to help fund SWMBOs S3 Mini.

Has anyone any experience of selling stuff at CEX?

The phones are HTC desire, HTC wildfire and HTC Desire C. All have original boxes & accessories, fully working in good - excellent condition and apart from the wildfire are unlocked.

Or am I better off with eBay?

Have you tried mazuma or other mobile sites? I know O2 buy old phones. CEX offer very small amounts.

Mazuma effectively say they're worthless. Or as good as.

Hence looking at cex who's we buy at prices seem better

CEX knock money off for any slight mark on the phone!

I would i would try sites like mazuma or ebay.

Old/bottom of the range phones now, wont get much.

I have not sold to CEX but I buy loads of games there no problem. :)

Might be interested In the best one. The plain Desire or the Desire C?

My wife has got her desire S wet and I think the 'buttons' at the bottom of the screen/digitiser are goosed. Looking for a similar but cheap replacement.

I've got the original Desire which is great unless you like your apps as it is quite low on space. Tmobile branded, but I got them to unlock it.

The desire C is unbranded sim only and not a bad phone imo. Didn't have a screen protector but pretty sure the screen isn't scratched. Can check later if interested and send over pics.

The thread was more about the older stuff and best way to dispose, but just been pointed to the MSE calculator for best prices for those.

I have sold to CEX, you have to bring them 2 forms of ID to have a valid selling account for 6 months. They usually tell you on the website how much you can expect to get for anything you have to sell. You might also have to wait for the item to be tested before they confirm value (in my case, for a camera lens this took a couple of hours).

As with most things it depends how much hassle you want with the selling process. For me eBay is way too much faff especially if you start to use PayPal.

Thanks.

Just after best price with least issues.

I think you have to shop around, as newer phones come on to the market the price drops out of the second hand market. It seems iphones keep there prices but others can change on a daily basis.

My wife's I9000 Galaxy is only worth Β£37 at today's prices on Muzumba, no point selling it but CEX do seem to give more.

I went into a CEX today. I didnt think much of their prices, not sure how they do the business but that's people for you. I'm only looking at spending 40quid (ish) so you might be better off chancing your arm with them. They certainly seem more generous online.

If you're struggling to get a decent amount of cash for them have you considered donating them to charity?

I know the London Air Ambulance will take them.

Whilst I support and already regulary donate to the local air ambulance, the sale of these is to fund a replacement phone. ;)

I've bought and sold from CEX can't fault them
