Advice on which fabia for new driver

My son (New driver)would like to buy a Fabia and has around

1.9 TDIs are very low group (6) And

Well, Rob. If Kevin can afford it go for the 1.4 16v. The fuel economy and perfomance is much better than the 8v. Or if he can the 100bhp diesel.

The 8v has had head gasket problems, which is what you were referring to and is a capable engine (it's basically an enlarged felicia/favorit 1.3) I don't know much aboutr the 1.2 personally, but apparently it is more refined and torquey than the 1.4 8V (well it's a 2 yr vs a 35 yr design so it should be). Bodywork wise there should be nowt wrong with them.

Go for a 1.4 MPi, dont think you will get a 1.2 HTP for that money, maybe have a look about.

Very little goes wrong generally with the MPI, usually pretty cheap to repair and service.

Now for the silly question how do you know which car is an mpi on the skoda used car website

this one for example

I think he probably wants one with an engine :D

he wants to see how Jason gets on on with "flintstones conversion" before he tries it :D

It's a shame really but any car he gets, its going to be expensive to insure.

It will probably just say 1.4 rather than 1.4 16v

:iagree:

For me as a newly insured driver, insurance on the first PD100 was around

a 2000 1.4 comfort (

nothing wrong with 1.2... as first driver i find it ace.... but

Why IS a comfort a higher group anyway? I thought it would have exactly the same features as the classic in terms of safety, performance and stuff?

In my experience, Insurance companies tend to use a random number generator for most quotes anyway

If there is a car at another dealers miles away, and on the Skoda used car web site, can our local dealer "get it in" so to speak or would we have to go to where its for sale.

It'll be down to how much it costs to repair and with air con, leccy windows, etc the cost will soon mount up :) May also be the desirability factor, but why anyone would choose a Comfort when they could have the luxury of an Elegance, I'll never know ;)

Rob, maybe he could get a good deal on the Fabia Sport ;)

Don't let this side track thread.... but i know the is a massive step from classic to comfort on kit spec...

But comfort to elegance.... other than heated seats, tray and different colour interior and little alloys is it really worth that much more?

Back on track.....

Rob, i know budget is set a

Have you looked at a Renault Clio

Seriously though, at that budget I think you'd struggle to buy a bad Fabia, be it 1.2, or 1.4; from a dealer you'll get a warranty etc so I should think you'll be pretty problem free.

Straying from the Skoda brand SWMBO bought a new Hyundai Getz last year (1.3 - 83bhp) for

Mine is a 2001 Y, so in comparison to the Comfort I looked at of a similar age....

Chrome pack (door pins, gear stick handbrake and handles)

Leccy rear windows (now dropped I believe )

Air conditioning with Climatic climate control

Heated seats

Alloy wheels

Alarm

Under parcel shelf net

3-button flip remote (may be on Comfort now)

In dash storage tray

CD player

Rear ashtray in the back ;)

The Comfort felt cheap inside in comparison to the Elegance, but we digress

Might have a good deal on a fabia blackline with 32,000 on the clock in good condition electric sunroof etc. and the colour is....."black magic" so he is happy about it.

I'll see if we can arrange to pick it up on Saturday

Does that mean my twin is going to be posting on here soon?

Hi...tis I.....

I cant think of anything witty or funny at the moment, so erm....Hello :D

(I am nowhere near as annoying as MissPiggy, and I do occaisionally stop talking..)
