Another EGR delete thread!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Couple of weeks back I bought an EGR delete from group buy. Been reading up some more info on this but I'm a bit wary of removing the anti shudder valve.

Now I know a blanking plate goes onto the manifold when removing the connecting pipe, but if I just blank off the other end on the original EGR instead of replacing it with the the pipe I received would I still keep the anti shudder?

Also, If I do this do I still block the vaccum pipe? I'm aware the EML will come on (ASZ engine) but I'm planning a remap anyway.

Any help appreciated!

Kieran

please correct me if im wrong but on a 2004 asz the anti shudder valve isnt part of the egr so you will retain the anti shudder valve with your egr delete

If your correct then I will be a very happy bunny! :D

it will bring the eml light on though but at least you will know what it is and if your getting remapped so it doesnt matter :)

You're wrong. Lol.

The asv IS part of the egr on your car, yeah theoretically you could mate, you could fit either a blanking gasket such as a piece of coke can etc and leave the pipe connected to the manifold or blank both the turbo and the egr valve with two plates!

Plug the egr vac line and leave the asv line in and job done. There'll be a slight airflow restriction but nothing you'd notice and you'll retain asv.

Yeah I was quite happy with that, just worried about the anti shudder. Can anyone else confirm this? (Not doubting you Holmesie) ;)

Thanks Josh, another question for you. Are the blanks for both holes the same? So I could get a copy made up of the one I got with the kit?

Yeah I'm sure it's the same at both ends dude, it doesn't even need to be the same shape really, just have the holes in the right place, get a second paper gasket cut out too.

You may not really need to blank egr side as the valve should be shut but probably safest too in case of any leaks!
