Lights off when car locked

Featured Replies

I have heard it mentioned that Blackline Octavias turn the lights off when you get out and lock the doors. Does anyone know how to do this on a pre-fl, is it possible? I was thinking of going the Scandinavian DRL route, but this would suit me better. Our other car has this and I really like it.

Bumping this with a new question. Ive read hints that if you have coming/leaving home lights, you can leave the lights on and they will turn off 30seconds after locking the door. First is this true? Also, since I have the rain/light sensor, I believe I can just activate this in VCDS?

Yes.

On my pre FL 4x4 the leaving home lights work on the sensor but the coming home lights only work with the headlights left on, then this overrides the sensor for leaving home .

The settings in VCDS are a bit daft though.

Interesting when I compared my car (MY07) to a newer car (MY08) the light sensor was different as was the CCU and they behaved differently.

Yes.

Correct.

The way round it though is to turn the lights off then as you get out press the unlock button on the fob to turn the lights back on again.

I also noted the differences between 07 and 08 cars. Mine is just an MY08 (57 plate) and had a different sensor and works fine but the 07 seemed to need the healights on all the time from memory.

Correct.

That was comparing your car and mine if you remember, when I picked up those wheels from you

Haha!

I didn't even notice who you were then... just replied without looking who it was.

Yes you are right.  :giggle:

Great, sounds like its just what I'm after then. Lights always on without having to turn them on and off manually.

Yup.

If you need any coding doing give me a shout as I'm only up the road in York.

You can get a switch with auto lights for about £65, add on about £2 for a wire between the switch and CCU and you will have proper auto lights.

Great, thanks all, I'll have to get that sorted out in a bit. Was going to go the route of Scandinavean DRLs but having the option to turn them off is better.
