Been over to Switzerland for almost a week, went by road but took the Monte and drove there (and back) in one push; 770 miles out, 800 back due to a wild goose chase UK road diversion Beginning to realise I'm getting to old for such driving and might have to concede to a halfway stop

In France we saw very few Skoda's, the odd Octy I medical car & a couple of II's including a Brit reg. However despite only coming across one Skoda dealer in the Swiss, Skoda seems popular there, with quite a few Yeti's, including what I assumed to be one with the fire service. Also a number of Police Superb's and Octy II's. Fabia II also seemed very popular including a number of well spec'd Monte's.

Oh also encountered fresh snow fall in the mountains; went up in the cable car to look at the view but found ourselves in a snow storm Apparently they are reopening some of the ski slopes due to the amount of late snow that has been falling, for those into such things.

Welcome back Tim, I was wondering why there had been no input from you recently

Sounds like a fun trip TP, i know what you mean about the longer trips, I like to think now that the travelling is half the trip and that makes it a bit more enjoyable.

Heading to the Harz mountains on Sunday, Dover-Dunkerque and see how far I get, maybe a sleep in Kasper on the way. After some R&R there I'll head towards Berlin and beyond. Looking forward to getting away, driving not so much...

As for the white stuff they can keep it, it's been :rain: and cold enough here without strapping planks on my shoes and trying to stay upright on that stuff .

Have to confess, I've given up the 14 hour driving days from Central Europe this year. I had planned three weeks in Tuscany but this year have decided to spend 15 days there and the remainder of the time stopping off on route: Reims & Annecy in France and Marina di Massa and San Gimignano for a few more nights in Italy before hitting Tuscany. So, as above, I now make the journey part of the holiday so I'm not so shattered upon arrival. And I'm only in my mid 30's. Pfft!

That's too bad, but probably much cheaper that way. we spent 4 days in Norway recently - it cost the same as our month in Spain. be prepared for a price shock relative to the cost of stuff in the UK.
