Faulty Passenger Wing Mirror - FABIA II 57 Plate.

Faulty Passenger Wing Mirror - FABIA II 57 Plate.

Unfortunately the remote manual joystick control for the passenger side wing mirror is not fully operational.

Can this fault be repaired?

Or will it require the replacement of the whole wing mirror unit?

The remote manual joystick will currently move the wing mirror once but then no further adjustment can be made using the joystick.

The only adjustments can then be made by hand.

After a short period of travel and time the vibrations moves the mirror and it needs to be adjusted again to use for safe driving and parking.

It would be ideal if you have a step by step procedure to be followed to inspect, repair and last resort replace the wing mirror with a remote manual joystick.

I will look forward to your comments and advice.

Thank you in advance!

You will need to change the mirror housing only, I mean the part of the mirror that is attached at the door. Mirror's glass and mirror's upper plastic (and probably coloured cover) do not need to be replaced. Unfortunately the joystick moves two (I think and I am not sure) metal wires and they are kept in place by small plastic clips - hinges. That's the problem.

I have my both mirrors, to be accurate mirror housings, changed under warranty.

To keep my glass steady I used some double sided adhesive tape (the thick one) until I got mirror repaired.

It is number one (1) below, even if picture does not represent a Fabia mirror.

I seem to have the exact same problem on my 59 Plate Fabia 2. How did you resolve this?

I think if you read the posting above your one, you can easily assume that they bought a new mirror housing, so that is what you will probably need to do, though it would sensible to take that mirror apart and check what is wrong - you will need to do that anyway to repair it - also if you are capable of repairing this, why not just buy a new mirror housing so that you have it to hand if and when you take it apart, if it is not a damaged mirror housing, take the new part back to your Skoda dealer who should accept it back if it is still in new condition and packaging and only charge you a handling fee.
