Seat belt warning while driving

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced this problem, to get seat belt warning light and chime while driving? It happened to me few times now for few seconds. Bit annoying i should say :wonder:

The issue is in the mechanical side of a microswitch, causing it to rattle and throw a "seatbelt not on" signal. I'd suspect either the belt latch or the reel for the affected seat, depending where the switch is.

Cheers, so i suspect it might be a trip to Skoda garage soon.

I think its an easy bodge to disconnect/rewire the thing so it never bongs again

Not beeing high tech guru i might find it difficult to do it lol. Unless someone can give info about it

  • 1 month later...

its easy to stop, i had this and it drove me mad for weeks, I just went under the drivers seat, pulled a little flap open and disconnected the blue plug... the yellow one is for airbag so that will still work but no warning light anymore or bong!! nice!!

I'm pretty sure the sensor is in the seat belt clip socket ( the bit next to the seat with the red button on).

I'm also fairly sure that this is just bolted on to the side of the seat frame.

A trip to the scrap yard to seek a replacement seatbelt-clip-stalk-thingy might be in order. Or order this from the dealer.

Blue one, thanks.  A job for the weekend.

As long as you haven't got something sat on the passenger seat I'd agree.

Thanks Tech1e. Blue wire seems a temporary fix. I'm due an oil change in 3k miles so will ask Sultas Leeds to code out.

Might aswell leave it unplugged rather than code it out.

I only mention the passenger seat as I have had in the past customers leave handbags, laptops or shopping on the passenger seat which triggers the occupant sensor and then as the belt isn't on pings the light up.

The Octavia II doesn't have a sensor on the passenger seat, does it? At least the pre-FL doesn't.

Pretty sure it does. Or how would the passenger belt warning work?

Mine doesn't: and I asked on here about it.

The conclusion seemed to be that they didn't evidenced by the lack of sensor wire going to the seatbelt clip & plastic heat shrink over the metal supports that hold the clip up level with the seat.

Fair enough. I would refine my previous statement then to on models equipped..lol

I know some have.

Fair comment. Mine was an Ambiente (poverty) spec Octavia.
