Seatbelt warning light

Featured Replies

Evening all

I've done a quick search but can't find the right answer. My seatbelt warning light/message keeps appearing/ sounding despite my seatbelt being secure and no weight on any other seats. I've checked the during loom under the seat but this seems OK. Sometimes the light flashes once! Sometimes for 10 seconds or so. When it shows for a few seconds! The only way to make it stop (other than having the patience to wait for it) is to lift my backside off of the seat, only for it to show a few moments later.

This annoyance is very temperamental and some days I can enjoy a journey with the light flashing once.

For reference this is on a 56 plate L&K

Thanks

get it coded out

Is it possible to code out the seatbelt warnings?

I do allot of 1st and reverse gear driving with boat trailers when I'm in/out the car all the time, the bongs drive me mental sometimes!

Yes it is. I've done mine.

Yep, It's a 2 minute job with VCDS.

If you unplug the cable from the seatbelt it stops telling you anything about the seatbelt

Won't that also stop the pre-tensioner and load limiter working in an accident.......and possibly activate the air bag warning light?

couldnt say for sure.

All I know is when my airbag light was causing issues the cable was unplugged and it didnt say the seatbelt was not done up nor did it say anything on maxidot.

We don't have the seat belt warning here from the factory itself, except for on the l&k. I would like to believe that the pre-tensioner and the airbag are working fine.

Yes, I'm sure they are.

But the factory won't have unplugged the seat belt anchor electeonics to disable it, they would disabled it using their version of VCDS.

I said the same as booke23 when this was brought up last year as I was told this is the issue by ILEXA but another member told me NO NO NO youre wrong!...maybe but until I see a wiring diagram im keeping an open mind, ill have acess to such data on tuesday so watch this post...

It's easier, and safer, just to code the option out in VCDS if you don't want the warning. Rather than going unplugging things.

Do it properly, or not at all is my approach.....

Yes, I'm sure they are.

Actually I was hoping that it was something like that, so I tried activating it with my VCDS cable as IMO it's a good reminder to have. But had it checked and double checked at the workshop and skoda have not provided any connection to the seat belt clip at all.:-(

How much is VCDS ? and is it easy to find in the vcds menu ?

TY

See Gendan who are an official UK distributor: http://www.gendan.co.uk/category_145.html

HEX+CAN is more expensive, around £300. You can get the CAN-only cable for around £200 which will connect to CANBUS vehicles, e.g. Octy Mk2. You would not be able to use it with old cars though, Fabia Mk1 as an example.
