Air con engine fan running a lot

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. I've noticed recently that as soon as I start the car the air con fan on the engine radiator comes on full speed, sounds like a plane trying to take off! If I switch the econ button then it goes off after a minute or two. It doesn't run constantly but is on a lot. I've never had that in the 2 years I've had the car whatever temperature it was set at. The most I noticed before was the fan would maybe be running for a few seconds when I switched the engine off.

I've done a full scan with Vagcom and nothing showed up. Could this simply be a symptom of it needing re gassed?

What car is it, year etc. if its a cr 170 its quiet normal after a regeneration to hear fans still going.

Its a 2007 tfsi vrs. It just seems such a sudden change that it makes me think somethings up.

By default the air-con fan is meant to run all the time although only very slightly (thinks its 10%) and then only as stuff starts to heat up its meant to turn it on properly

Fan failures seem to be a fairly common and happens a lot in the VW brand where the fan just stops working after the speed regulator that is built into the first fan fails
