New car - what to do?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

Hopefully in 6-8 weeks time I'll be picking up my brand new tornado red Skoda Citigo from the dealer :)

I want to protect the lovely, fresh paint from the beginning and having read some of the guides on this forum, I'm thinking the procedure would be:

  • Wash (two bucket method with microfiber mit)
  • Dry with microfiber towel
  • Apply sealant (two times?)
  • Apply wax (how many times?)

Being a newbie at this whole thing I'm looking for advise on which (reasonably priced) products I should use. I'm not going to spend a fortune on this. On the other hand I won't be doing the above too often, so something that will last some time would be nice. Preferably something I can buy of Amazon, so I won't have to pay for the shipment (I'm not in the UK).

Any advise on the above is much appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time.

Henriette

EDIT: Something that I can buy of Amazon with Super Saver Delivery.

Wouldn't worry to much about sealing & waxing - either or is fine.

Collinite 476s or finishkare 1000p would offer you decent durability if you want a wax.

Zaino z2 or Jeffs werkstat if you want a sealant.

1000p would be my choice as its easy to use, the tin will last you ages & it's cheap!

Happy waxing

I'm using 3M Performance Finish as a base coat followed by Collinite 845 Insulator Wax - both liquids and easy to apply and remove. This is on Tornado Red too and seems to give a depth of colour that wasn't there on delivery - the car actually looks a shade darker.

I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Collinite 476S on my Corrida Red Fabia and it looks great and keeps surprisingly clean in the winter

A Zaino treatment might tickle your fancy?? I did Mrs Stig's car at the weekend and it looks blooming great.
