Octavia wrc help

Featured Replies

Well long story short, I own (or thought I did) a skoda octavia vrs wrc 34/100.

I know the full history of the car from the person who bought it new from Yeovil skoda. But it turns out that there is another number 34/100 that has turned up for sale in the Czech which looks very genuine.

So I was wondering if anyone here could help me trace the origin of these cars or point me in the direction that I could find out.

I have tried skoda uk and the original dealer with no luck.

Thanks in advance!

Did the original dealer confirm that they sold your car new? Skoda UK should be able to confirm what model yours is with the VIN if not. Then maybe try and find out the details of the other one.

The other one could be a harmless copy or it could be a clone of yours, vin and all...(unlikely)

Hope this helps a bit...

if every country that got the WRC octavia got 100 models each, so maybe they are numbered exactly the same 1-100 in each counrty. So that would explain the same number as yours.

The 100 were across the world, not per country.

oh dear problems then, if the car is on ebay or the likes report it sooner than later.

does yours have the full wrc spec, ie side airbags, xennon lights as these are expensive options to copy/retrofit properly.

your seats should have airbag on them (they should be the stock vrs seat with airbags unlike all other vrs cars), this would settle my mind a little that i did indeed have an original wrc and not a fake.

Of course thats not an exact science, surely skoda can tell you from the vin?

Yeh Luca mine has all of the wrc spec equipment but the only thing it doesn't have is the plaque on the dash.

So I'm convinced that it is a wrc but which number is the big question.

A brisk member (vittorio) lives over there has been to see it and it looks genuine including plaque.

He also has a copy of vin numbers and option codes but is unable to come up with anything solid over there.

I was looking for someone here who could run the vins etc to see what they can find here.

I have spoken to skoda uk who don't hold records back that far (so I was told) and the dealer in Yeovil that was loders skoda is now herritage and they also don't have any history.

We may be able to add another wrc to the owners list if I can find out more.

Did you buy it from "monkeynuts" on here? What do you have to tell you it's number 34?

Surely their records must go back that far? I bet if you walked in with your VIN asking for a really expensive part the records would have details about it. . .

My now 13 y/o Polo is still on VW's systems, can't see Skoda's being any different

Yeh I bought it from him about 5 or so years ago.

I have no hard evidence other than the say so of the dealer who told the first owner that it was number 34.

I am almost certain yours is real then, so try not to worry too much. Maybe somene stole the badge or it came off and got lost perhaps. The fact you have genuine vrs airbagged seats is the best indicator its a genuine car short of some confirmation from skoda themselves.

Have you tried another dealer, I can think of a member who might be able to help, will pm him for you.

If you send me the vin I can find out monday or possibly tomorrow if my mate is in work

I'm sure it is a genuine wrc, just not sure if the number is correct.

I was going to try a local dealer to see if they could help. And thanks for the help :D

Right.

My mate ran your VIN through ETKA the parts system for VAG cars.

Good news, it's deffo a WRC model, as ETKA only shows the parts applicable to your car, yours showed the sticker pack as a spare (£2000 !!!)

What he couldn't tell me was what number it was, but he did say Skoda can definitely tell you but they are being lazy.

He did point that yours has an odd PR code on it which came out as PRCode: SC4 = Auto Motor und Sport magazine.

So may have been a press car possibly at some point

If you go to this site http://prsearch.planetvag.com/

You can put in the codes from your sticker on the boot floor and see what is fitted exactly if you feel that way inclined

David thanks very much that's great info there.

So it looks like it could have been a press release car, I will be back onto skoda to find out what number mine is.

I don't suppose your mate has a better number for contacting skoda on as the main customer service didn't really want to know.

If its a press car or concept then thats possibly why it doesnt have a number!

Could be the original wrc

  • Author

Yeh that is looking like a possiblity. There could even be 101 wrc models hehe

Makes it priceless ;)
