Service deals

Featured Replies

recently bought a fabia and the dealership offered a service deal - 3 services and an MOT for around £350 (at any local VAG authorised centre i think)

Not sure of the details but has anyone said yes to these kinds of deals? any feedback about them?

Check the services come with everything (might only be an oil change and inspection and not include the big ones such as brake fluid replacement etc) but excluding the MoT cost (and would it include MoT "insurance"?) then it sounds like a half decent deal with a typical standard service coming in around £100 a throw, depending on the dealer it seems.

On the plus side, you don't have to pay for the next 3 services and you maintain a dealer service history.

On the minus side, they've already had your money up front and might not save you anything..will depend on your mileage (and the service interval the car is on - fixed/variable).

Some (most?) owners have got a 3 year service plan thrown in with a new car, as its a sweetener to take the finance, along with the deposit contribution.

I'm considering a service deal on my Fabia as it`s first MOT is due in September and I have one more years finance. Its making the decision to cough up £350 and then Im really obliged to keep the car until I`ve had my moneys worth out of the service deal!! Probably would mean running the car to at least 60K.......And of course they will want to flog me an extended warranty when the the 3 years runs out......

i didnt get the car on any finance. not sure if the offer is still running - i think it goes back up to full price soon for the package.

its just had its first MOT and the brake fluid chamnged at 20K i think.

may give the dealrship a call and get some more details about it.

Best find out other than Oil & Filter & check Fluids & do an inspection service,

'What they actually will do in each years service.

&

Not only things are done, 'Where required'.

ie.

You have the 'Brake Fuid changed at 20,000, so will it be actually getting done 2 years later?

If spark plugs are due for change at a certain schedual mileage, is that included or will you be paying extra for the Plugs.?

I find with these 'offers' that they are more for the benefit of the dealer than the customer. You need to check exactly what you get at each service and the likely savings you can make.

I have always negotiated the cost of my dealer services. Best to ask an independant what they would charge and go for that (or better) at the main dealer.
