Torque Loss?

Featured Replies

How can you find out if you are loosing torque. My vrs is not as torqueee as it used to be. It can still do 110-115 without much effort on motorway. Seems to level out about this speed and I do remember thinking it was capable of more without as much effort. I may be getting used to the performance but I think I have noticed a dip especially in the famous 2nd and 3rd gear. I don't remember having to nearly red line them to get the same kick.

I have thought about rolling road but I don't have figures to compare.... Suggestions anyone??

My dad drove the car says the maf is fine, no codes detected on diagnostic. It is starting to make me feel I have got used to it but really feel there is no big kick anymore and has lost its lightening effect. I have been using crappy asda diesel for last couple of fills. Overtaking just doesn't seem as exciting as it was.

I am not saying there is anything wrong with the car just that I need convincing I am getting used to the performance.

PS My car is not mapped to my knowledge. Albeit I recently reset the spanner warning in the speedo. Is it possible if it had been remapped this would alter??

The resetting of the service reminder wouldnt make a difference to a remap. To be honest you have probably got used to it by now. I was the same with mine. When was it last serviced? Could just need a "freshen up" cambelt been changed recently?

Added any extra weight as well??

Just a bit of advice mate it's not the best idea to be saying "it can still do 115 on the motorway" you never know who may be reading this! ;)

Hope this helps

My old 2005 Fabia VRS is pretty quick to around 112mph then it takes it's time to reach anything higher up it's maximum 130mph/ red-line (rev's)

With no 100mph number on speedo it's a guess when that is achieved.

It's probably the fact that your now red lining the car when you never used to. As a result of doing this on a standard car your taking the car beyond where most of the performance is lower down in the rev range.

Thanks folks. Oh just to clear any confusion I didn't drive it on the motorway at that speed but my mechanic did. Was pretty annoyed when he told me he was wheel spinning it also.

Clutch slip?

Get it dyno'd as without a point of reference it's hard to calculate anything, drivers get used to power very quickly.
